Keyboard, file operations, large folders, viewers & file formats improved

Keyboard

• Keys follow the focus, file keys such as Delete, F2 and F5 act on the file list only when it has the keyboard.
• One file per key, a key acts on the file under the cursor unless you selected files yourself, in every view.
• Pickers from the keyboard, Ctrl+K, V picks the view mode, Ctrl+K, K the kind filter, and F10 opens the main menu.
• Back returns to your place, Back and Forward bring back the file you were on and the files you had selected.

File operations

• Undo with Ctrl+Z, Ctrl+Z asks, then undoes the last copy, move, delete to the Recycle Bin, rename or new folder.
• Folders are merged, Skip existing and Overwrite if newer go into a folder that is already there and decide file by file.
• Drop and paste like F5, drag and drop and paste use the choices you made in the F5 dialog.
• Free space checked, a copy asks first when the destination says it will not fit.
• Transfers window, Windows copies show in the Transfers window, which counts files, retries only what failed and opens with Ctrl+K, Q.

Large folders

• Whole drives in Treemap, Bubbles and Treemap on a whole drive such as C:\ finish reading it instead of starting over each time a file changes.
• Changes added in place, Bubbles, Treemap and Flatten update only the files that change instead of reading the whole folder again.
• Responsive while indexing, a folder with tens of thousands of files stays responsive while it is being indexed.

Remote folders

• FTP and SFTP open at once, going back to an FTP or SFTP folder listed in the last two minutes shows it at once and refreshes it in the background.
• Faster cloud copies, cloud folders are listed once instead of twice while a copy plans, and uploads start sending as the file is read.

Viewers

• Animated pictures play, animated pictures play in the image viewer with a Play and Pause button.
• Choose the encoding, the Encoding button in the code viewer reads a text file as UTF-8, Windows-1252, Shift-JIS or another encoding.
• More in Quick view, Quick view shows a PDF's page count and current page, an EPUB's chapters and a workbook's sheet.
• PDF passwords removed, after you unlock a PDF, Remove security saves it without its password.

File formats

• Older Excel files, .xls and .xlsb workbooks open with their sheets, and their contents can be searched.
• Canon and Fujifilm raw photos, CR3 and RAF photos show their built-in preview and get a thumbnail.
• More subtitles, MicroDVD, SAMI and TTML subtitles open in the subtitle viewer and Quick view.
• Markdown alerts and highlights, alerts such as > [!NOTE] are shown in colour, and text between == marks is highlighted.
• Help files and playlists, .chm help files open like a folder, and M3U, PLS, XSPF and WPL playlists can be searched by their entries.
